Santa Cruz Sentinal - May 26th, 2010
Big Basin Vineyards was featured in a cover story Wine's modern makers: Santa Cruz County vintners walk a fine line, combining old traditions with new technologies. "Does technology come at the expense of quality? For Bradley Brown of Big Basin Vineyards in Boulder Creek, the answer is yes ... and no. "There are different schools of thought," said the vineyard owner and winemaker. "High production vineyards spend a lot of money on fancy stuff to crank out large quantities of Advertisement decent wine. Small vineyards invest in technologies to do small-lot artisanal wines really well. For me, it's not about making wine faster or easier. But if a new approach makes a better wine, if it assists me in the process of having a more pure expression of the fruit without contaminants, we'll use it." "
