Our new tasting room in the historic winery town of Saratoga is open Thursday-Monday 11am-5pm, and till 7pm on Friday and Saturday. Come by during our Friday and Saturday Happy Hour from 4pm - 7pm on Friday and Saturday and your first glass of wine is offered at 50% off. Also note our special Elixers of Love: Wine & Chocolate pairing events to be held around Valentines day (see below). Additionally, we will offer special wine and chocolate gift packages from February 9-14, plus special tasting tasting flight which includes chocolate pairings. The tasting room also features the extraordinary artwork of Matt Jones whose work is commissioned for many of our wine labels. These pieces will be offered for sale along with stunning vineyard photographs featuring Big Basin Vineyards. Pinot Days Southern California, Santa Monica CA - January 28

We are heading down to the LA Basin for our second year in a row to attend Pinot Days at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica. If you love Pinot, this is a must attend event. We will be pouring our 2009 vintage Pinots to which the major critics have given some of the highest scores for Pinot on the Central Coast. You will receive an immediate 10% discount by entering the discount code BGBNSC12 when purchasing your tickets. Elixers of Love: Wine & Chocolate Pairing - Tasting Room - February 11 & 14

Big Basin Vineyards is teaming up with Dolce Bella Café to offer a special wine and chocolate tasting both on Saturday February 11 and Tuesday 14 in our Saratoga Tasting Room from 1-7pm both days. This is the perfect romantic prelude to a nice dinner, so get off to an early start with your special person and stop by our Saratoga Tasting Room for a sensory delight. Additionally, we will offer special wine and chocolate gift packages from February 9-14.

World of Pinot Noir, Shell Beach CA - March 2 & 3

Once again we are heading to the Central Coast for this gathering of top Pinot producers. On the morniing of Friday the 2nd, winemaker Bradley Brown will be on the panel of a seminar titled "Natural Winemaking - Highest Respect or Neglect?" Read his Spring 2012 Newsletter to find out where he stands on this controversial subject. Then at the Saturday Grand Tasting, we will be pouring all four of our 2009 vintage Pinots. Continue the fun by joining us for a winemaker dinner Saturday night at Novo Restaurant and Lounge in San Luis Obispo. This two day event is the perfect opportunity to discover the up and coming Pinot Producers that are putting Santa Cruz Mountain Pinot on the map. On day 1, various wineries will open their doors to offer special Pinot tastings. We will host our special Pinot Pathways tasting at our conveniently located tasting room in downtown Saratoga. This special tasting will consists of a flight of five different Santa Cruz Mountain single vineyard Pinots. Then at the Grand Tasting on Saturday we will be pouring our just released 2009 Woodruff Family Vineyard and Alfaro Family Vineyard Pinots. Ticketing and further event information...

Spring Harvest Celebration at the Winery - April 21 & 22 Noon-5pm

We encourage all of our customers to attend this event so that you can see for yourself the beauty of Big Basin Vineyards. Spring is a great time to visit the Santa Cruz Mountains and we welcome you to bring friends and family. Most likely we will be unable to resist the temptation to show many of the various wines that we are producing, so in addition to the new releases, we will have some upcoming releases and a will likely pour an older Rattlesnake Rock Syrah from our library collection. We will also be featuring artisan food purveyors who will prepare some tasting pairings that will allow you to enjoy each of these wines that much more. Plus as is our tradition, we will have some talented musicians providing live entertainment. And of course, you can take a walk through our vineyards and enjoy the unforgettable mountain scenery. There is no charge for Friends of the Vineyard picking up their wine (up to two passes), and $25 for others -- and everyone goes home with a 22 oz. crystal Big Basin wine glass. As this is one of our most popular events at the winery, we ask that you purchase tickets in advance on the website, or in our Saratoga Tasting Room. Big Basin Redwood State Park is just down the road and its magical old growth redwoods are a national treasure. Should you wish to make a weekend out of it, there are some wonderful lodging options nearby including: Hartman Inn in downtown Boulder Creek, Villa Montagne just up the ridge from the vineyard, condos at the Boulder Creek Country Club just down the road and Big Basin Redwood State Park. Hospice du Rhone, Paso Robles - April 27 & 28

This is the largest Rhone varietal tasting in the world that includes wineries for all of the major Rhone varietal growing regions in the world. On Friday the 27th at the Big Rhone Rendezvous Tasting, Big Basin will be pouring older vintages of the Rattlesnake Rock Syrah from magnums.
