2019 East Terraces Viognier

Vineyard Notes: This Viognier comes from the steeply west and south facing rows at the top of our Certified Organic Estate Vineyard.

Vintage Notes: The 2019 growing season was preceded by a wet winter with several rainstorms, totaling around 70 inches in rain. Bud break was late due to the cold, wet soils, but an early June heat wave caused the vines and cover crops to take off. Despite a few late rain events, there was good weather for bloom and fruit set and the crop was above average. July and August were relatively cool, slowing veraison, then warming into September for nearly ideal weather for final ripening. In general, most picks began a bit later than normal (mid to late September). All together, a very good growing season.

Wine Notes: This first ever vintage of Viognier from our main estate vineyard expresses Alluring white flowers and white stone fruit on the nose. It is unctuous and beautifully textured on the palate with delicate fruit that echoes the nose with an underlying minerality and hints of Meyer lemon zest. This wine has just enough acidity to keep it lively and fresh. A perfect Spring/Summer wine to enjoy chilled on the patio, or paired with fresh fruits de mere.
