2019 Old Corral Pinot Noir

2019 Old Corral Pinot Noir

2019 Old Corral Pinot Noir

Vineyard Notes: The Old Corral Pinot is sourced from our Certified Organic Estate Vineyard. Three separate hillside blocks are used to produce this wine with one planted to Swan clone and the others planted to Mt. Eden clone.

Vintage Notes: The 2019 growing season was preceded by a wet winter with several rainstorms spread out between November 2018 through end of May 2019, totaling around 70 inches in rain. Bud break was late due to the cold, wet soils, but an early June heat wave with temps >100F caused the vines and cover crops to take off. Despite a few late rain events, there was good weather for bloom and fruit set and the crop was above average.July and August were relatively cool, slowing veraison, then warming into September for nearly ideal weather for final ripening. In general, most picks began a bit later than normal (mid to late September). All together, a very good growing season.

Wine Notes: Deeply spicy and perfumed nose where one has to hunt for the fruit layered beneath the surface. Black cherries, pomegranate, wild berries all emerge with air. Bright and expansive on the palate with fine grained tannins and ample extract to carry the berry flavors long and with length. The purity of fruit is stunning which is a theme we have seen repeated among 2019 vintage wines.
