We welcome born and raised Santa Cruz local Alex Potter to the Big Basin Vineyards team as Tasting Room and Events General Manager. After graduating from Santa Cruz High School Class of 2007, he attended Cabrillo College, receiving his AA and then transferring to UCLA with a BA in Philosophy. Alex has worked in the service industry since he was 17 years old, with his first job being as a bellman at the Seascape Resort. Throughout his career, he has worked in almost every aspect of the service industry, mainly in restaurants. He has also been a sales rep for Alluvial Wine Brokers in the Santa Cruz and Monterey areas and has his level one Sommelier certification. Before joining our team, Alex opened and managed Persephone Restaurant in Aptos, which his family still owns, and his sister is the Chef. He enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and two sons in his spare time, playing basketball, and fishing out on our beautiful Monterey Bay. Alex is excited to bring his restaurant expertise to the Big Basin Vineyards to help cultivate a destination wine and food experience for Santa Cruz.
